1787 Fugio Cent (1c) States United 4 Cinq
PCGS
MS64 BN
CAC
The 1787 Fugio Cent holds a special place in American numismatic history as the first official copper coinage of the United States, authorized by Congress and designed under the direction of Benjamin Franklin.
This CAC-approved MS64BN example is a remarkable survivor, displaying smooth chocolate-brown surfaces and sharp detail throughout the distinctive sundial motif and interlocking rings. Traces of original mint copper red can be seen throughout the protected areas and Tte surfaces show minimal marks for the grade. The eye appeal is absolutely outstanding with glossy, problem-free fields. The rings on the reverse are particularly well-defined, showing clear separation and strong detail in the central lettering.
