1832 Capped Bust Half Dollar (50c) Small Letters

NGC AU53 CAC

The 1832 Capped Bust half dollar represents a fascinating transition year in American numismatics. President Andrew Jackson was battling the Second Bank of the United States, and the nation's coinage would soon undergo significant changes with the introduction of steam-powered presses. While not a rare date in the series, the 1832 has become increasingly difficult to locate with the strong strike and superior surfaces evident on this example.

This AU53 specimen, bearing CAC approval, displays exceptional quality for the grade. The coin has a pleasing silver-gray patina with subtle hints of original luster still visible in protected areas. The strike is notably bold, with sharp star points and well-defined hair details on Liberty. The eye appeal is outstanding for a lightly circulated example, with clean fields showing only minor marks consistent with brief commercial use. The eagle on the reverse remains crisp, with excellent feather definition throughout the wings.
