1833 Capped Bust Half Dollar (50c) Overton OGH

PCGS AU58

The 1833 Capped Bust Half Dollar represents a fascinating period in early American coinage. While not particularly rare in circulated grades, finding choice AU examples with original surfaces can be challenging, as many survivors show cleaning or other issues from decades of improper storage.

This AU58 example certified by PCGS displays exceptional originality with lovely silver-gray surfaces and hints of peripheral toning. The strike is bold and well-centered, with crisp star details and sharp feather definition on the reverse eagle. The surfaces show minimal contact marks for the grade, and traces of mint luster still peek through in protected areas. The eye appeal is outstanding, with clean fields and natural patination that's developed over nearly two centuries.
