The 1887-S Morgan Dollar comes from a period of heavy production at the San Francisco Mint, with over 6.2 million pieces struck that year. While not particularly rare in circulated grades, finding premium quality mint state examples can be challenging, as many were stored in mint bags that resulted in contact marks and bag abrasions.

This CAC-approved MS64 example stands out with blazing cartwheel luster and pristine, bright white surfaces. The fields show minimal bag marks for the grade, and the strike is exceptionally sharp, particularly on the eagle's breast feathers and wing details. The eye appeal is outstanding, with clean, mark-free cheek and pristine mirrors that flash brilliantly when rotated under light.
