1890 Morgan Dollar ($1)
NGC MS63 DMPL
The 1890 Morgan Dollar hails from a period when silver dollars were being produced in massive quantities to satisfy the requirements of the Bland-Allison Act. While not particularly rare in terms of mintage, finding prooflike examples with exceptional surfaces can be challenging.
This MS63 Deep Mirror Prooflike specimen shows why the DMPL/DPL designation is so coveted. The fields display remarkable mirror-like surfaces that create stark contrast against the frosted devices. This coin exhibits exceptional reflectivity and flash. The surfaces are clean for the grade with minimal bag marks that would typically prevent a higher grade. The coin's steel-gray color is perfectly original and untouched, giving it exceptional eye appeal that photographs simply cannot capture (but try their best!)
