1890 Seated Liberty Half Dollar (50c)

PCGS MS67 CAC

This 1890 Seated Half is an original, toned, lustrous beauty. Graded MS67 by PCGS and adorned with the coveted CAC sticker, the surfaces of the coin radiate with a stunning luster and the toning is an exquisite blend of light golden and subtle lavender hues.

1890 witnessed modest mintage figures, reflecting the waning days of the Seated Liberty design which was soon to be replaced by the Barber series. But high-grade, original examples from this year are notably scarce. Only 4 examples have been graded MS67 by PCGS and only 3 are finer (one in 67+, one in 68, and one in 68+, with the market prices increasing exponentially for each.)

The strike on this example is razor-sharp. Few marks are visible on the surfaces. The color is as original as it gets, with no evidence of cleaning, dipping, or other alteration to its surfaces. This coin was clearly plucked from circulation by someone with an astute eye and was kept safely tucked away as the decades spun past. This is an exquisite high-grade example of a later-year Seated Half that will find itself the centerpiece of your collection.
