1891-S Morgan Dollar ($1)
PCGS
MS64
CAC
The 1891-S Morgan Dollar represents a significant branch mint issue from a period when the San Francisco facility was producing some of the finest Morgan Dollars. With a mintage of 5.3 million pieces, this date is considerably scarcer than many of its Philadelphia counterparts, especially in higher mint state grades with CAC approval.
This MS64 example certified by PCGS and endorsed by CAC exhibits excellent eye appeal with strong cartwheel luster that dances across the surfaces. The coin displays a bright silver-white appearance with crisp, well-defined details throughout Liberty's hair and the eagle's feathers. The fields show minimal marks for the grade, maintaining a pleasing semi-reflective quality that contrasts nicely with the frosted devices. The "S" mintmark is bold and well-defined, and the coin has clearly been carefully preserved since its striking over 130 years ago.
