1892-O Morgan Dollar ($1)

NGC MS63 CAC

The 1892-O Morgan dollar represents the first year that New Orleans struck silver dollars after an eight-year hiatus. While not particularly scarce with a mintage of 2.7 million pieces, the New Orleans Mint typically produced coins with weaker strikes than its Philadelphia or San Francisco counterparts, making well-struck examples like this one considerably more desirable.

This CAC-approved MS63 example boasts exceptional eye appeal for the grade. The coin displays vibrant, frosty luster with beautiful rainbow toning forming around the peripheries. The fields are remarkably clean for an MS63, with fewer bagmarks and much better luster & "pop" than typically seen at this grade level. The strike is impressively sharp for a New Orleans issue, with good definition in the hair above Liberty's ear and the eagle's breast feathers. The original surfaces and natural color progression suggest this coin has been well preserved since the day it was minted.
