1895-O Morgan Dollar ($1)
PCGS
XF40
CAC
The 1895-O Morgan dollar stands as one of the most coveted key dates in the entire Morgan dollar series. With a meager mintage of just 450,000 pieces and notorious striking issues at the New Orleans mint, finding examples in better grades has always been challenging.
This CAC-approved XF40 example displays honest wear consistent with its grade while retaining impressive detail throughout. The coin exhibits a pleasing original medium-gray patina with subtle hints of original luster still visible in protected areas. The surfaces are remarkably clean for a circulated New Orleans Morgan, with none of the excessive bagmarks or gouges often seen on this issue. The eagle's breast feathers and wing details remain well-defined, and Liberty's hair shows good separation - attributes rarely found on this notoriously weakly struck issue. The eye appeal is exceptional for the grade.
