1900-S Morgan Dollar ($1)
PCGS
MS64
CAC
The 1900-S Morgan dollar represents an interesting piece of San Francisco Mint history. With a mintage of 3.5 million, it's significantly scarcer than many of its Philadelphia and New Orleans counterparts. The San Francisco Mint's superior striking quality is evident in this issue, which often displays sharper details and better luster than coins from other mints of the same era.
This CAC-approved MS64 example showcases brilliant cartwheel luster that dances across the surfaces when rotated in the light. The fields have a pleasing satiny quality with minimal bagmarks for the grade. Both obverse and reverse exhibit crisp, well-defined details, particularly in Liberty's hair and the eagle's feathers. The eye appeal is exceptional, with clean, bright silver surfaces that have been preserved remarkably well for over 120 years.
