1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent (1c)
NGC
MS64 RB
CAC
Ahhh the beloved 1909-S VDB -- one of the most famous and sought-after key dates in American numismatics. With a mintage of just 484,000 pieces, it represents the perfect storm of numismatic desirability: the first year of the Lincoln cent, the San Francisco mint mark, and the controversial designer's initials that were quickly removed from the design after public criticism of their prominence.
This MS64 RB example (with CAC approval) displays an appealing blend of original mint red transitioning to light brown toning. The surfaces show excellent preservation with minimal marks and strong definition throughout the wheat stalks and portrait. The eye appeal is exceptional, with beautiful luster across both obverse and reverse.
