1910 Lincoln Cent (1c) Matte Proof

Matte proof Lincoln cents are SUPER fun. A stark contrast from the traditional idea of "proofs" that collectors usually think about (with cameo devices and highly-polished dies that produced mirrored fields), the matte proofs of the early-1900s were an experiment by the mint as it was believed to better showcase the intricate details of Victor David Brenner's design. This technique involved using finely prepared dies and special planchets, resulting in a satin-like, granular surface.

This example - one of only about 2400 that were produced in 1910 - is a beauty to behold. Lovely, satiny, rich surfaces that light up in shades of red, orange, amber, and green/blue (this feels like we're describing a fine wine!). We feel pretty confident that PR64 is a conservative grade, to say the least.
