1913 Type 1 Buffalo Nickel (5c)
NGC MS67
The 1913 Type 1 Buffalo Nickel represents the first year of James Earle Fraser's iconic design. While not rare due to its high mintage, this date holds special significance as the inaugural issue. The Type 1 variety, with "FIVE CENTS" on a raised mound, was quickly modified later in 1913 to improve strike quality and extend die life.
This MS67 example certified by NGC is an absolute knockout. The surfaces are pristine with full, satiny mint luster that radiates from every angle. The strike is exceptionally bold, particularly on the central devices and important design elements. The eye appeal is outstanding, with clean, mark-free surfaces and beautiful original patina that gives the coin a sophisticated look. Finding a Buffalo nickel with this level of preservation is truly remarkable.
