1916 Standing Liberty Quarter (25c)
PCGS
VG10
CAC
The 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter represents one of the most significant rarities in 20th century U.S. coinage. With a mintage of just 52,000 pieces, it's the key date of the entire series and was produced for only the final weeks of 1916. Many examples were released into circulation before collectors realized the significance of this new design, making well-preserved specimens particularly elusive.
This CAC-approved VG10 example shows honest wear from circulation but retains clear design elements and a pleasing light gray patina throughout. The date remains fully visible, and Liberty's figure on the obverse maintains good definition. The reverse eagle displays surprisingly strong wing detail for the grade. The surfaces are problem-free with no distracting marks or issues, giving this rare key date excellent eye appeal despite its modest grade.
