1918-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar (50c)

PCGS XF45 CAC

The 1918-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar represents a significant branch mint issue from the early years of this iconic series. With a mintage of just 3.8 million pieces and produced during America's involvement in World War I, these coins saw heavy circulation and many were melted during the silver rushes of the 1970s and 1980s. Finding a choice XF example with CAC approval is particularly noteworthy.

This PCGS XF45 CAC-approved example exhibits exceptional quality for the grade. The coin displays a pleasing light silver-gray patina with hints of original luster still visible in protected areas. Surface marks are minimal and entirely consistent with the grade. The strike is better than typically seen on Denver mint issues from this period, with good definition on Liberty's head and hand, as well as the eagle's feathers. The eye appeal is outstanding for a circulated Walker, with smooth, honest wear and no distracting issues.
