1919-S Lincoln Cent (1c)

PCGS MS64 RB

The 1919-S Lincoln Cent is a semi-key date in the series, with a mintage of just 139.7 million pieces – modest for the era. San Francisco cents from this period are notoriously difficult to find with full original red color and strong strikes, as the mint was known for producing coins with weaker strikes and less vibrant surfaces than its Philadelphia counterpart.

This exceptional MS64RB example showcases impressive surfaces for the grade. The coin retains significant original mint red color with subtle brown toning beginning to develop. The surfaces are remarkably clean with minimal marks. The strike is better than typically encountered for this date, with good definition on the wheat stalks and Lincoln's hair details. The eye appeal is outstanding, with the red-brown patina giving the coin a warm, natural glow that's increasingly difficult to find in surviving examples from this era.
