1926-S Peace Dollar ($1)
PCGS
MS64
CAC
The 1926-S Peace Dollar represents one of the more challenging dates from the San Francisco Mint in this series. With a mintage of just 6.9 million pieces, it's considerably scarcer than many of its Philadelphia and Denver counterparts, especially in higher mint state grades. The 1926-S is known for often coming weakly struck, making sharp examples like this particularly desirable.
This CAC-approved MS64 example displays impressive quality for the grade. The coin exhibits a pleasing silver-gray patina with underlying cartwheel luster that sweeps across both obverse and reverse when tilted under light. The strike is notably better than typically seen for this date, with good definition on Liberty's hair details and the eagle's feathers. The surfaces show minimal marks for the grade, with clean fields that contribute significantly to this coin's excellent eye appeal. The original mint bloom remains intact, giving this Peace Dollar a distinctly premium look for its MS64 designation.
