1937-D 3 Legs Buffalo Nickel (5c)
PCGS VF20
The 1937-D Buffalo Nickel features the famous "3-Legged Buffalo" variety, one of the most dramatic and popular errors in 20th-century U.S. coinage. This error occurred when a mint employee over-polished a die, completely removing one of the buffalo's legs. The variety wasn't discovered until the coins had entered circulation, making high-grade examples particularly scarce.
This VF20 example displays honest wear consistent with its grade, with clear definition remaining on the major design elements. The surfaces show an even, light gray patina with no significant marks or problems. The diagnostic missing leg is clearly visible on the reverse, and the overall eye appeal is quite strong for this grade level. A solid example of this highly sought-after variety.
