1934A $10 Hawaii Silver Certificate
AU
This 1934A $10 Hawaii Federal Reserve Note, Fr. 2303, represents a fascinating piece of World War II emergency currency. Issued after the Pearl Harbor attack, these notes were specifically designed for use in Hawaii with distinctive "HAWAII" overprints and brown seals that would allow for quick demonetization if the islands fell to Japanese forces. The San Francisco Federal Reserve District (indicated by the "L") was responsible for these notes.
This note presents beautifully. Light circulation is evident through moderate folds and handling, yet the paper retains good body and crispness. The brown seal and serial numbers remain bold, and the distinctive "HAWAII" overprints on both sides are clear and well-defined. The reverse shows the Treasury building with its dramatic "HAWAII" overprint intact and clearly visible. The green inking remains strong throughout the design elements.
